Noob question. Sorry. I'm setting one up now and don't know how to get the velocity of the midi to effect the filter frequency. That's what he did right? I looked in forums and its just a bunch of buttheads saying, "Read the manual."

Is there anyway to accomplish this on FL Studio?

@au5music If you highlight all of your little audio clips and drag them into session view onto an empty track, then drag them back into arrangement view again, it’ll truncate the silence without needed to export to audacity!

You can also put a lead sound sample that goes from C to B or notes from a chord/scale and you can make melodies with some sort of controlled chaos, kinda like the random preset on ableton's arpeggiator

Just started working on something identical a few days ago in Maschine, loaded multi 1 shots in a loop in the sampler & recorded start position changes in the clip / arranger just to check if it could be done in Maschine's arranger, & it worked. Glad to see a similar notion especially to utilise the flow state. Top tips, keep it up!

This is wild. But I think it's effective if you want a lot of different sounds in your track, which may not be the case somtines when you want something bit repetitive. Also it's hard to find the samples at the beginning xD

Brilliant technique. I started doing this naturally with native modulators in my DAW. made for some CRAZY sounds.

This is in fact the best music production idea/inspiration tutorial I have seen on the UA-cam since a very long time ago. I can use this idea to create a lot of tracks using splice samples that I really love.

I have many 20 minute renders of twisting knobs or playing random notes that I scrub through, but I either separate good chops to their own sampler track or manually time stretch, consolidate, process, flatten, etc. Seeing this in action feels like I've been wasting time chasing sound design above the idea, setting up these "monoliths" could be the solution

oooh also, map the MOD wheel to the macro you made for the start position, and "play" it. or hell, turn off key (pitch) tracking, and assign the keyboard to the macro. ... actually, im not sure you can turn off key (pitch) tracking for the sampler... lemme check that...

I've been using this technique for about 3-4 years and It changed my workflow forever. I don't use it all the time but when I don't feel particularly inspired, It's pretty much always clutch! Also using several types of sound is super creative, instead of just using bass sounds you can also throw some pads, synth shots, plucks, vocals, texture, or whatever you want. You are your own limitations!

I forgot how usefull that "truncate silence" feature was in Audacity. It actually has a few features that we honestly should have as options in the paid DAWs...not sure why they have been overlooked.
